There is no one better to get advice from than from your own mom. Today, over a glass of Sangria & Tropical Citrus Paradise, we enjoyed a long and deep conversation about all things motherhood. She taught me so much, it was a great self-reflection of how I mother versus how she does. I admire her so much so it is important for me to learn from her wisdom especially when it comes to raising Surah. She gave me words of encouragement and a few motherhood tips that I would like to share with you all:
-
Be A Confident Parent
Having confidence in how you parent is how you set your foundation for your personal family rules and values. Children are smart and will try to get around it but if you set the foundation right, they will know they cannot cross the line.
-
Communicate With Your Partner
Be on the same page as my husband, Milad. We should discuss decisions that affect our children and show them that mom and dad are on one page. This will allow for a smooth parenting style when Milad and I first discuss matters privately and then present the final decision to the kids
-
Know Your Priorities
When you get overwhelmed, always remember what your priorities are. It will make everything clearer.
-
Cut Yourself Some Slack
My mom knows I am a perfectionist, I give it my all and more to complete a task or be there for someone. She says that I should be careful of this attribute as it can cost me my health, my well-being by trying to hard to make things right. Sometimes you just have to let go and let everything flow on its own. There is no such as the perfect mother, everyday you try to do your best and that’s what make it perfect for your children.
-
Play & Love
Just as you let your kids play, don’t forget to get your hands dirty and get involved in their playtime. These are the days your children will remember the most. It is ideal for developing and bonding the family together and it is a great stress reliever. Give unconditional and unlimited love to your kids under all circumstances, love triumphs all.
I will forever remember her tips and implement it in my own way with my kids. I had so much joy in me discussing these with laughter, reminiscing childhood memories and bonding on another level. It was made extra special by putting our feet up and sipping on our mocktails made by Ocean Spray®. ‘s Sangria – they are non-alcoholic made with real fruit juice and no preservatives, artificial colors/flavors or high-fructose corn syrup. And better yet, they are only 90 calories per serving so it did not feel like we transgressed from our diets.
