Hey mamas!! I am super excited to be sharing with you all Miraj’s nursery. It’s something I’ve been working on and have put my heart into it. He is turning 3 months old in just a few days (already!!!) His room is one of my favorites in our Toronto home – it’s this exact little corner I sit on my glider and I hold him, nurse him and gently sing to his little ears.
Milad and I wanted his nursery to focus on our family favorite Disney character – Mickey Mouse!! Growing up with Disney has been a magical experience – the embedded messages they pass on to kids has such a positive impact on children. As a little girl, Mickey Mouse was my favorite character. I remember my brother and I would jump up and down whenever Mickey appeared on TV. I cherished the t-shirt I had of him and like any 5 year old, I yearned to meet him one day. Many years later, at the age of 25 I was STILL as excited when I met him down at Disneyland. Disney brings a smile on every child’s face so I love that my son Miraj is surrounded by a piece of mama’s childhood memories.
My vision for him was modern chic – blue tones with touches of black, white and grey. We added some textured wood to give it some rustic edge. I am used to just working with feminine decor, clothing and accessories because of Surah. But Miraj’s nursery was a new and fun experience working with a masculine mood board. Lately I’ve been digging either cool tones or deep tones and I don’t know if that has anything to do with being a new “boy mom”!!
